Little League baseball bats to be exact.
This past week, Bill and I took in a couple of games of the Little League World Series in Williamsport.  Since we're not that far from the stadium complex, I think we'll be making this a yearly thing.  
We saw 2 games, 1 at Volunteer Stadium, and 1 at Lamade Stadium.

On July 18th, Bill and I went to our first Brew Fest.  It was the Hops, Vines, and Wines in Selinsgrove, PA.  29 breweries, 4 wineries, good food, great music, and 1200 people drinking until they floated. Lots of baby robins, and what seems to be millions of baby Grackles.  They are fun to watch.  Nothing is more entertaining than watching a juvenile Robin try to pull a great big earthworm out of the ground.  It's like watching a game of tug-of-war!

On June 21, Kulpmont had a car cruise.  It was pretty neat.  There were old cars, and new cars.  The muscle cars were the coolest, especially the ones from the 70s.  The real muscle cars.  There were a few new ones too.  And some pickups with the big tires.  Anyone could participate.  They went from one end of town, turned around, and went back. Not a bad place.  Not many trees for shade, but it's off the main roads and somewhat quiet.  Nice.  There is a nice grassy area behind us for the dogs.  They aren't supposed to be off their leashes, but that's never stopped us before. :o)

They had an Arts Auto Tour around the area.  We took a hike to the North Lookout to see what we could find and besides the 3 Turkey Vultures, I found a lifer!  A Black-throated Blue Warbler!  What a beautiful bird.  I also saw a Black and White Warbler and a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher.  3 birds added to the PA list, 1 to the life list. I even got one lifer, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.  The coolest bird that I've seen so far was an Osprey that flew around the campground and tried his hand at fishing in one of the ponds.  didn't get to see if it got anything out of the pond, but it probably did.

Then you start going up into the mountains.  Not only did the trees change, but there is a ski area outside Alomagordo. 

Next you go through a canyon, which includes a tunnel through the mountain.

At one point you get to see the White Sands National Monument.  It sticks out like a sore thumb being white in a sea of brown.

Lots of heat.  Good heat.  Heat with sun and sand and surf.  And I like it!!!  So, quite frankly, I simply don't have the time to blog.  (OK, maybe I do, but I don't feel like taking my computer to the beach with me.)

Myers for the month of February.  I have a great time there, learning more and more about these Eastern birds that I grew up with.  You'd think I'd never saw a bird before.  It's been a bit frustrating at times, but otherwise I didn't do a bad job.

Why, they go to Florida, of course!  Flocks of them.  Along with woodpeckers of all kinds, Tree Swallows, and every person over the age of 70, whether from the US or Canada.
So, the next time someone asks you where Robins go in the winter, you can tell them! St.Augustine is really nice, but is another victim of tourism.  The best way to see the city is by the trolleys that take you on a tour.  At a cost of $21/person.  And they want to raise the price.  You have to pay to see everything here. Also saw a Green Heron this morning, but not a new bird for me. Bill got pictures of the Heron and Anhinga. We left Pennsylvania on January 3rd and made it to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on the 4th.  Myrtle Beach is OK.  I think the best thing about it was Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Restaurant.  And the beach.  It really wasn't beach weather, but we went to the beach with the dogs every day.
From there, we headed south to Beaufort and Hunting Island State Park.
